The Friday Music Video

Been a while since I did one of these, no?

Today I'm showcasing the musical awesomeness of the rockabilly revival band Heavy Trash. These guys, consisting of Jon Spencer (of Blues Explosion fame) and Matt Verta-Ray, play some dirty muscular rockabilly (with more than a dash of psychedelia thrown in) and they do it well. Heavy Trash's sophomore release, Going Out With Heavy Trash, was just released this week. Here's a couple of videos:

Good stuff, huh? Well, pick up the album if you like it. It's on the indie label Yep-Roc, so your money is being well spent. Over and out, enjoy the weekend.

Dice-K is Still Good

Fear not, fellow Sox fans. Just wanted to do a quick post showing evidence that Dice-K is still a good pitcher and not as awful as WEEI makes him out to be. From BaseballHQ:
Anyone who watched Daisuke this season witnessed several situations where he got rattled and lost his composure. Dominant stretches abruptly became crises when the opposition bunched a few baserunners against Matsuzaka. This happens to many, if not most, pitchers. But under two cultures' microscopes, Daisuke's struggles were noticed and magnified.

Daisuke has displayed excellent skills for most of the year. His DOM/DIS of 64/4% reinforces his skill set. Matsuzaka owns these skills, so they could reappear at any time. A 43% Hit rate and 40% Strand show you more luck than skill resulted in that inflated ERA. Bet on the skills, and an ERA more like his second half xERA than that of the past 31 days.

So, there you have it. Let's not freak out people. This season has been awesome and will continue to be awesome. A little visit to the hometown from the O's and D-Rays should make everything feel alright again.
